THE WORD OF ELOHIM
GENESIS
Chapter 34
Paragraph 1:
This is the second time that the act of rape is referred to in the Word of Elohim. This time a woman was involved; the first time that this occurred, was mentioned in Genesis, chapter 18; when the angels of Elohim, entered Lot’s home in Sedom (Sodom). Although I am sure that this behavior also occurred in Genesis, chapter 6; when,
“the divine beings saw how beautiful the daughters of men were and took wives from among those that pleased them.” And “Elohim saw how great was man’s wickedness on the earth, and how every plan devised by his mind was nothing but evil all the time.”
Later, when we study the Laws of Moses: We will learn that the act of rape is considered as serious of a crime as murder, and the penalty for rape is to be destroyed.
Paragraph 2:
Ya’akov shows wisdom and restraint, in waiting; he is only one man, Chamor (Hamor) is the leader of the community, and it is known that his son Shekem (Shechem) is highly respected.
Virginity was highly valued in this era and it is understandable why his sons would be so angry.
Paragraph 7:
“Should our sister be treated like a whore?”
This is the first time in the Word of Elohim that the occupation of a whore is mentioned.
